Carvin joins Greenwald's team

Former NPR reporter Andy Carvin is the next journalist to join First Look Media, the news start-up spearheaded by former Guardian journo Glenn Greenwald and bankrolled by billionaire eBay founder Pierre Omidyar. While Carvin's role remains as yet undefined, he blogs that it will involve community engagement.

Carvin broke the news on his Twitter account by sharing the GigaOm article on his move, and tweeting, "Andy Carvin, a pioneer in using Twitter for real-time journalism, joins Omidyar's First Look Media."

R Subramanian teased, "and is now tweeting in third person..."

"In 2011, @acarvin and @ggreenwald sharing a newsroom would have been just another weird dream," Alec Brooks reflected. "In 2014, it's reality."

Meanwhile, Greenwald made it official by tweeting, "Welcome, @acarvin!"
