Parade of the ridiculous

We are very saddened and disappointed at the world in general to have to report that George Zimmerman will fight rapper DMX in a “celebrity boxing bout.” Apparently exactly nothing is sacred anymore and it’s only a matter of time before the locusts come for us. Mary Williams at Salon said just exactly what we’re feeling: “No. No. No. Do not give the man who killed Trayvon Martin any more fame or attention. No.”

In other “rich people you may or may not care about” news, NBC News got an Exclusive Inside Story on Bieber's 'Pot' Plane and couldn’t help themselves from titling it Flying High. Shane Goldmacher at the National Journal quoted the story: "However, no unsmoked weed was found during the search." Benjy Sarlin thinks “This also seems a good scoop to usher in the awesome new@NBCNews website.”

For more ridiculous non-news, Vanity Fair urges us to Read Wendi Deng Murdoch’s Mash Note About Tony Blair: “He Has Such Good Body”. Sarah Rabil at Bloomberg News wondered, “What to make of the Vanity Fair piece on Wendi Deng (Rupert Murdoch's ex) and her note about Tony Blair?? Crazy.” Ryan McCarthy from Reuters tweeted: “‘The dénouement began with the backstairs rumblings of servants’ (Sentences that can really only appear in VF).” Kate Hinds from WNYC added: “Between the ‘cabal of strong, successful women’ and Tony Blair's ‘panicked look,’ I hardly know where to start.”
