A serious stance against tobacco

Stephanie Strom at the New York Times reports that CVS Plans to End Sales of Tobacco Products by Oct. 1. Steven Erlanger there thinks “That is very good news.” Lauren N. Williams agreed: “I am truly over the moon about this CVS news.” Lee Schafer at Minneapolis StarTribune added, “CVS will be an interesting case study someday -- if Retailer turning itself into a Health Care Co. works long term.”

Meanwhile, at the Washington Post, Sarah Kliff explains Why CVS thinks it can win big by ending cigarette sales. Brad Plumer explained the company will “give up $2 billion in annual sales” in the process. Yael Abouhalkah at the Kansas City Star still thinks it’s a “Great move!”

And here’s CVS’ official release on the matter if you just have to check the source material on this one.
