Brian Ries to join Mashable

Feb 12, 2014

Brian Ries will soon join Jim Roberts' team as Mashable's first Real-Time News Editor. Currently the Daily Beast's senior editor for social media, Ries's new role will spearhead Mashable's coverage of breaking news and developing stories, making use of live-blogging tools that include social media.

"Big news!" Ries tweeted. "I'm super excited to announce that I'm joining @nycjim & the team at @mashable as real-time news editor."

"hooray! You're starting with us just in time for the Oscars and SXSW. Excited to work on both events with you!" responded associate entertainment editor Brian Hernandez, before adding, "You're the 5th Brian at Mashable now. Got any nicknames? I'm BAH, obviously."

Don’t forget - if you change your job in journalism or move to a different news organization, be sure to email Kirsten (kirsten [at] sawhorsemedia [dot] com) so we can reflect your new title. News job changes only, please! Thanks!
