Lady things

From the New York Times, William Alden writes that Goldman Handed Out Cosmetic Mirrors and Nail Files at Women's Coding Event. He added: “My Goldman nail files story was updated with a statement from the student group that ran the event.” Freelancer Sabrina Buckwalter called this: “How to alienate female programmers.”

Also at the Times Gina Kolata writes that a Study Adds New Doubts About Value of Mammograms. Lisa Schwarzbaum from Entertainment Weekly pointed out: “Unfortunate phrasing, Dr. Russell P. Harris: ‘The decision to have a mammogram should not be a slam dunk.’”

Elsewhere in its pages, the Grey Lady asked Can Wendy Davis Have It All? Those incendiary words have surely launched a thousand think pieces by now  - for example, freelancer Jessica Grose wrote, “I have tweeted this exact thing before but it needs to be restated: Let's retire/ murder the phrase ‘have it all.’” - but first Bradford Pearson at D Magazine had something quite different to share: “My takeaway from this great @DraperRobert story on Wendy Davis: he quoted 20 sources. Good stories take work.”
