Kiev is burning

As the clashes between Ukraine’s government and protesters who originally wanted president Yanukovych to sign November’s trader agreement with the EU intensified yet again yesterday, Andrew Kramer at the New York Times writes 25 Deaths Are Reported in Fierce Clashes in Kiev. Freelancer Steve Silberman said, “This is one of the most apocalyptic photos I've ever seen in the news. From Kiev.” Mark Little at Storyful explained, “Protesters in Kiev stoke ‘ring of fire’ to hold off riot police after clashes that left 25 dead.”

From BBC’s Kevin Bishop, we have the very emotional photo, of which he said: “This is what dawn in #Kiev looks like from my hotel window.”
