First Look Media snares Gawker's John Cook

Entrepreneur Pierre Omidyar and journalist Glenn Greenwald's pioneering independent news project First Look Media has just made another high-profile poach: this time it's John Cook, Gawker's top editor. His new role? Editor-in-chief of FLM's digital magazine “The Intercept." Very nice.

"Hey look I got a job," Cook announced, nonchalantly, on Twitter.

"Between @johnjcook and @natashavc I'm wondering if @ggreenwald has a 'People GK Has Argued With On Twitter' hiring policy,"  writer Glenn Kenny grumped.

Cook teased back, "working on @dankois next."

In the wake of Cook's departure, Gawker deputy editor Max Read is expected to take on the EIC position.
