Your St. Paddy's Day gift was an earthquake

What was originally reported as a 4.7 quake struck near Westwood, California, just hours ago. That was quickly downgraded to a 4.4 magnitude. "Boooo stop making us look like wimps!" demanded Mike Roe at KPCC.

Recorded at a depth of 5.3 miles, there have been no reports of injuries, but that hasn't stopped everyone from freaking out. Including, you know, KTLA anchors Chris Schauble and Megan Henderson, who hid under their desks on-air and prompted the creation of this vineThe New York Times' Jonathan Martin summarized that clip "KTLA on air: "We're having an earthquake" *duck under table*" In reply, Talking Points Memo's Brian Beutler pleaded, "Someone PLEASE gif the first 6 seconds of this for me." At Bloomberg NewsNick Turner sniffed, "I'd like to think Bay Area anchors would be a bit more composed."

That wasn't even the only funny thing that happened; we kid you not, the LAPD was forced to put out this tweet: "Please do not call 911 to report the #earthquake. We are well aware of it."

Here's the seismograph, by the way.
