Buzzfeed hires first film critic

BuzzFeed has hired Alison Willmore as the site’s first film critic. Willmore joins the big bad Buzz from Indiewire, where she's been a TV editor since 2012. She's also the host of the biweekly podcast @FilmspottingSVU.

"We have a film critic!" foreign editor Miriam Elder enthusiastically announced on Twitter.

Business reporter Matthew Zeitlin seemed to be of the same mind, tweeting, "we've always had people who mouth off on movies on twitter, now we have a real film critic!"

"Very excited to announce that at the end of this month, I'll be starting as @BuzzFeed's first film critic," Willmore shared on her own account. "My time covering TV at Indiewire has been a pleasure, working with @erickohn @TheKnife @nigelmfs @peterknegt @paulabernstein @BenTTravers."

Smart move, Buzzfeed.
