Slate snares Jamelle Bouie to cover politics, race

Slate just welcomed Jamelle Bouie on-board as a staff writer covering politics and race. You'll recognize him from his most recent gig at The Daily Beast, where he served as a columnist on a similar beat.

"A little personal news. Sadly, today is my last day @thedailybeast. It’s been a big pleasure working with @johnavlon, @Bencjacobs and others," he tweeted last week, before adding, "In happier news, however, I’ll be starting @Slate on Monday, covering politics and race, and lots of other stuff too."

"Didn't know @jbouie went to Slate. Good for Slate," concluded Farhad Manjoo at the New York Times.

Marking his first day on the job, Bouie tweeted, "Hey, it’s my first piece for Slate, on Rand Paul, Obama and MLK."
