DFM names new EIC

Digital First Media has named David Butler Editor-in-Chief. Currently editor of the San Jose Mercury News and its sister papers in the Bay Area News Group, Butler will oversee news and content operations at DFM's 75 daily newspapers as well as all weekly and digital newsgathering operations.

"Congrats to @EditorDButler who will take over May 1 as editor in chief of the entire Digital First Media chain. He replaces @jimbradysp," tweeted Mark Katches with the Center for Investigative Reporting.

"Congratulations, Dave," Michelle Rogers at DFM's IdeaLab chimed in.

Surprisingly, Butler has only tweeted once since he seemingly joined Twitter in 2011: "Ye ole editor will start Tweeting before long," he posted then. We hope the awaited time has finally come for that next tweet, and many more!

Don’t forget - if you change your job in journalism or move to a different news organization, be sure to email Kirsten (kirsten [at] sawhorsemedia [dot] com) so we can reflect your new title. News job changes only, please! Thanks!
