Jackie Robinson Day and a lunar eclipse

Filed under other top news of the day, today is Jackie Robinson Day, the day that commemorates Robinson's accomplishments as well as how he broke the color barrier in sports. USA Today's Chuck Culpepper celebrated the day by tracking down Jackie Robinson's son, who is happy to farm coffee in Tanzania. Plus, the MLB furthered the festivities by sharing a photo of Robinson and captioning it, "Every Retweet this gets = a Thank You to Jackie."

And we might have known today was off to an auspicious start, with this early morning's look at the first total lunar eclipse of 2014, during which the moon took on a hue of "eerie blood-red." And who better to share one of the most viral photos than MySpace Tom, who shared a twitpic of the blood-moon he shot himself.
