News folks having fun

More than one person was charmed by one particular recent letter in The Times of London, which you can read at right (or here, as shared by Comment Editor Tim Montgomerie there, who noted, "Writers to @timesletters have a great sense of humour.") On the Times sports desk, Sarah Ebner remarked after also sharing it, "It's just so perfectly written - exactly the right tone."

Meanwhile at Poynter, they're sharing the worst ledes every written. At The Birmingham NewsJohn Archibald advised, "Journalists and news junkies gotta read these ledes: 'The house ... stood motionless.'" Or our particular favorite, "The meeting began when a quorum was reached."  The Daily Freeman's Ivan Lajara suggested, "This bad ledes story should be a tumblr, really, with gifs."
