AP anoints Scott as political editor

The Associated Press has found a political editor in David Scott, a veteran of the press who currently leads news coverage in 14 states as regional editor. This move means he'll soon depart his present base in Chicago for Washington, where he'll report directly to the AP's DC bureau chief.

Also at the AP, Jay Cohen tweeted, "Congratulations to good buddy & avid Cardinals fan @davidthornhill on his new job as @AP political editor in Washington."

"So happy and proud of friend @davidthornhill today. Good things are ahead in DC!" predicted AP's Noreen Gillespie.
