Media Monday

New York Magazine has an in-depth story on Lara Logan's Benghazi debacle at 60 Minutes. In it, Joe Hagan speculates she may not return to the show. Richard Deitsch with Sports Illustrated suggested: “If you want insight into big-time media, ego, ambition & sex appeal, read this profile of 60 Minutes and Lara Logan.”

TIME magazine released their list of the 140 most influential Twitter feeds this morning and it’s been super fun to see which of our friends and favorite accounts made it. Deborah Cole from AFP tweeted: “.@TIME has named @AFP's Mideast photo chief @Patrick_Baz, among 140 must-follows on Twitter. Congratulations!” Lori Fradkin at Cosmopolitan shared the joy: “Congrats @annabreslaw and @JoannaColes on making the #Twitter140!” But in what’s more generally known as a subtweet, PolicyMic’s Jared Keller said, “Pro tip: Your list of the best anything on Twitter is bad so stop publishing it each year.”

We’ve been hearing a lot of unfortunate news of journalists being kidnapped in Ukraine these past weeks, with their respective employers fighting to bring these brave men and women home. But over on Medium, Jaron Gilinsky explains what happens When a Kidnapped Journalist is a Freelancer. Bobbie Johnson explained, “The cost of the new news: people.” Joshua Hersh with Huffington Post was similarly forthcoming: “Haven't read yet, but value the topic.”

Today’s most popular Vox story is a simple one - Ezra Klein declares Stop making fun of Christie for being fat. Dan Zak at the Washington Post tweeted: “Datasplaining & fat-shaming shaming, with WebMD as a source. Dig it. Though I want a card™ on ‘humorless fat person.’” Hadas Gold with Politico put it in Twitter terms: “.@ezraklein scolds @joelmchale for bullying @ChrisChristie.” Ted Hesson with Fusion hit McHale where it hurts: “I agree: the jokes about Chris Christie's weight are mean-spirited. And they're not very funny, either.”
