Featured journalist: Ariel Cheung

Today's featured journalist is Ariel Cheung, Crime Enterprise Reporter with The Post-Crescent in Appleton, Wisc. Cheung got her footing in journalism as a reporter for the University of Cincinnati's The News Record, where she eventually became editor-in-chief. From there, she joined The Register-Mail in Galesburg, Ill., as a cops and courts reporter. In this role she created an online crime map, boosted social media coverage and delved into data-based crime enterprise stories, before ending up at The Post-Crescent.

For her work, she's received numerous awards, including accolades from The Society of Professional Journalists and the Illinois Associated Press Editors Association. She writes, "Being a journalist is my identity, my joie de vivre.
