Featured journalist: Nikolia Apostolou

For today's featured journalist, we're going global: Nikolia Apostolou is an accomplished freelance journalist and filmmaker currently based in Athens, Greece. For the past three years, Apostolou has been reporting on the Greek economic crisis by way of contributing to an array of media outlets, including The New York Times, USAToday, Deutsche Welle, Al-Jazeera Magazine, Newsweek, The Christian Science Monitor, and the Global Post.

In 2012, Apostolou also co-directed a documentary on the Greek far-right wing party, Golden Dawn, which is currently showing at film festivals. She also garnered an honorable mention at the International Photography Awards for her video for the NYT, “Questioning Greek Growth."
