Today we're delighted to profile Mark Snowiss, reporter with Voice of America. Based in D.C., Snowiss focuses on Eurasia and the Balkans. Although he currently writes exclusively for VOA's website, Snowiss has also produced several television and radio packages since joining the outlet (check out additional links to his work here, in his Muck Rack portfolio). Prior to joining VOA, Snowiss spent four years in the Balkans with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and other aid agencies working to rebuild post-war Bosnia.
Snowiss got to into journalism, however, writing copy on the overnight shift, then flipping to dayside the second half of the week to edit the website. "Brutal," he called it. So why did he begin this journey? "I'm fiercely curious, love to write, and have become a fairly unselfconscious questioner. Plus, I can empathize. All qualities of the craft." We're inclined to agree!
