Vox annexes Mother Jones journo

Vox prepares to welcome Lauren Williams into the fold as lead editor. Williams joins the explainer news site from Mother Jones, where she is wrapping up her time as story editor.

"So this is happening," Williams heralded, while retweeting the Vox account's tweet: "Thrilled to announce our new Lead Editor: @laurenwilliams. Help us welcome Lauren to the Vox team."

Her Mother Jones colleagues will clearly feel her absence, as evidenced by engagement editor Ben Dreyfuss mournfully tweeting, "#FF @laurenwilliams who is leaving us for that site that explains things. We’ll miss u," which was capped off with an appropriately sad emoticon.

Meanwhile, senior editor Nick Baumann suggested, "Guys it's LEDE editor."

But at Vox, it was all celebration, as executive editor Melissa Bell revealed, "So excited to add @laurenwilliams to our @voxdotcom Twitter list. And cannot wait to start working with her."
