Levy announces Medium venture

Medium is launching a tech reporting hub, and it's hired Wired's Steven Levy to lead the new team. Most recently a senior writer at Wired, Levy previously worked at Newsweek, a newsroom he credits with providing him with an "amazing front row seat to the dawn of the Internet era."

"I'm joining Medium to start a new home for lively, meaningful tech writing," Levy tweeted, sharing this Medium post (appropriately enough!).

An excerpt: "Today, I’m thrilled to share the news with you that one of my most presumptuous fantasies is coming true. I’m joining Medium to establish a tech hub that strives to bring well-reported, lively, and meaningful reporting and writing to what is already shaping up as a terrific platform for the written word. I’ll be the editor-in-chief and senior writer for this (as yet unnamed) hub."

"@StevenLevy's depth & compassion for how people actually use tech has been a big inspiration," TechCrunch's Josh Constine tweeted, adding, "Smart hire, @medium."

We look forward to learning more specifics about Levy's new role in the weeks to come!
