Featured journalist: Deborah Bonello
We'd like to wrap up this week by featuring a freelance video journalist: Deborah Bonello, based in Mexico City! In the past Bonello has served as a staff video journalist for the Financial Times and the Los Angeles Times, and now works on a freelance basis for broadcasters and newspapers, shooting, producing and editing video news and features. She has also produced video reports for a host of publications, including the Los Angeles Times, the Economist, Time Magazine, AFP, the Guardian, AlJazeera, PRI The World, Univision, the BBC, GlobalPost and the Financial Times. In addition, Foreign Policy magazine has listed her as one of the 100 most-influential female Tweeters.
When asked why she became a journalist, Bonello writes, "Because I'm nosey and something of a voyeur. I love the opportunity journalism gives me to walk into and record other people's lives." As for advice she would give to aspiring reporters, she says, "I keep hearing about how journalism is dying off because of the internet. I've never been busier. Onwards comrades."
