Hero meteorologist finds new home

Jul 16, 2014

Weather Nation in Denver will soon welcome Rhonda Lee as on-air meteorologist. Previously the weathercaster for KTBS in sleepy Shreveport, La., Lee made national news recently when she was fired for defending her natural hair to a viewer there. Lee became an instant hero in the process, so naturally many people are delighted to see her latest job news.

"I am very happy to announce that I have accepted a position @WeatherNation!" Lee revealed on Facebook and on Twitter. "It is a national job that will allow me to reach millions of homes every day. By all accounts it is my dream job and I am thrilled to be a part of the WeatherNation family."

"Congrats to @Rhonda_A_Lee! African-American newscaster wearing natural hairstyle despite criticism!" Wall Street Journal's Lee Hawkins tweeted his approval.
