Featured journalist: Kendra Baker

Today we're delighted to profile Kendra Baker, reporter with The Wilton Bulletin in Connecticut. Baker's coverage includes town government, education and police and fire departments, to name just a few items. A recent graduate of Southern Connecticut State University, she previously interned at the New Haven Independent as well as freelanced for The Redding Pilot. You can view some of her best work here in her Muck Rack portfolio.

As a relatively recent entrant to the journalism industry, here is what Baker has to say to aspiring journalists feeling fearful about the field's future: "Don't give up. If you're in school and your professors scare you into believing you won't find a job, stay positive and motivated." Also, her favorite fictional journalists? MacKenzie McHale and Sloan Sabbith from HBO's The Newsroom, of course!

Remember: If you also want to be featured here, you should 1) set up your own journalist portfolio 2) get verified and 3) let us know by emailing Kirsten.
