Today in pointers from the press

In a super meta move, USA Today reveals that Gannett is set to spin-off its publishing business (1,284 shares). From the split, one side will focus on broadcasting and digital, while the other will be purely publishing. Here's Gannett's announcement (170 shares) as well as NYT's coverage (986 shares) on that story. Nation Now's Lindsay Deutsch reacted, "Well my company is splitting into two companies and that's a good! happy! fun! exciting! thing. I think?"

Meanwhile, the Washington Post is happy to report that it's been a record month for them (107 shares). Business Insider's Jay Yarow billed it as "THE BEZOS EFFECT."
