WaPo launches social change beat

Aug 06, 2014

Washington Post's Sandhya Somashekhar has been handed the reins to a brand new beat. Previously a reporter covering healthcare and Virginia state and local governments, staff writer Somashekhar is now charged with covering a variety of national hotbutton social issues, including gay rights, abortion and drug legalization.

"Very excited about my new beat covering social change. Announcement here," she tweets, adding, "My first story here."

"Congrats to @sandhyawp, launching a new national beat for the @WashingtonPost covering social change!" Allyson Robinson responds at LGBTech.
