Featured journalist: Niraj Warikoo
Today we would like to introduce to you Niraj Warikoo, Religion Reporter with the Detroit Free Press. With the Free Press since 2007, Warikoo also covers immigration, civil rights, Arab-Americans and other minority groups. He has also earned accolades for his work, including an award for Open Government Reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists. Warikoo got his start, however, as a reporter for his college's daily newspaper, the Columbia Daily Spectator, and continued to pursue a career in news because of a "[c]uriosity about people, ideas, the world." As for the story he's most proud of, it's a piece that "[e]xposed Ford Motor Co.'s repeated safety violations in the deaths of six workers in explosion at plant and how it escaped criminal liability." Check out more of Warikoo's work in his Muck Rack portfolio.
