Carney debuts on CNN with debate

Former White House press secretary Jay Carney made his CNN debut last night with a debate on President Obama's Wednesday prime-time statement on ISIL, opposite Republican senator John McCain. After his resignation was announced last May, months of speculation followed as to his next move--which now turns out to be joining CNN as a contributor.

"A view of @JayCarney v @SenJohnMcCain from best seat in the house," CNN's Jake Tapper crowed, sharing this cartoon drawing capturing the moment.

Meanwhile, Nick Smith at ABC7 News San Francisco probably spoke for most of us when he tweeted, "feign #surprise! @jaycarney joins CNN."
