Remembering Sept. 11, 13 years later

Sep 11, 2014

First, the Washington Post's Carlos Lozada tweeted "[t]he @washingtonpost front pages, thirteen years apart: Sept 12, 2001 and Sept 11, 2014" (285 shares). "Still tears," admits Russ Ptacek at WUSA9 Washington. Then the Today Show piled on the feels, tweeting an image of "the last-living rescue dog who was sent to Ground Zero" (100 shares). "OMG," was all Circa's Daniel Bentley could tweet. Also passed around Twitter was a photo of New York taken on 9/11 from the ISS by Frank Culbertson, "the only American not on Earth that day." TIME also reshared its 9/11 cover, which was the first time in history the magazine's red border went black (2,318 shares).

A ceremony to mark the 13th anniversary was also held near Ground Zero this morning (2,713 shares). "We will not forget," vows WSJ's Glenn Hall. Indeed, we won't.
