Glasser takes the helm at Politico

Sep 18, 2014

Editor of Politico Magazine Susan Glasser is now promoted to editor of Politico, thereby awarding her "full authority" over its Washington-based coverage, magazine and Pro verticals, as well as getting a say in its global expansion. Today's appointment confirms recent rumors about Politico's possible re-shuffling since executive editor Rick Berke resigned earlier this month and comes only a year after Glasser joined Politico from Foreign Policy. Glasser is expected to name a new executive editor soon.

"So thrilled to work with great team @POLITICO!" Glasser shared on Twitter.

"Woman have high hopes for @susanglasser breaking up the boys club," CNN contributor Hilary Rosen predicted.

"Big kudos to Susan Glasser (@sbg1), new @politico editor. Don't miss her recent 'Editing While Female' essay," recommends Carlos Lozada at the Washington Post.

Meanwhile, New York TimesMichael Shear speculates, "What seems clear with naming of @sbg1 as editor of @politico: the era of vandeharris is drawing to a close. Still around, but not at helm."
