Media madness Monday

At the top of today's media talk has to be this video of a KTVA reporter quitting on-air, revealing herself as owner of Alaska Cannabis Club in the process (9,359 shares and counting). "Now _this_ is how you quit your TV news reporter job (*cough* @ryanobles *cough*)," Nathan Cushing jokes at RVA News. Meanwhile, Mashable was all over this story with a headline quoting the reporter: 'F*ck It. I Quit:' TV Reporter Quits on Air to Fight for Marijuana Legalization (6,060 shares). "It's the economy of language and the little shrug that makes it for me," Toronto Star's Bruce Arthur admits. There's another layer to this, though: Mashable reveals that Greene has frequently covered Alaska's medical marijuana laws and the fight to make it legal to grow, in some stories even using the club as a source. Talk about conflict of interest!

Plus, welcome to the new Eater (560 shares). The unveiling of the site's newest incarnation is causing quite the stir among journalists. "People of Earth! Enjoy feasting at the new @eater, which is now CERTIFIED open for business," chief critic Ryan Sutton entreats.
