Actor Kal Penn joins up with Fusion

He may always be Dr. Kutner in our hearts, but actor Kal Penn continues to pave his political and media career by joining Fusion as a special correspondent covering the midterm elections. Penn left a successful acting career and a part in the popular TV show House for a very different role in 2009 when he was named Associate Director of the White House’s Office of Public Engagement in the Obama administration. So far Penn is mum about the role on Twitter -- unlike everyone else.

"Fusion says that Kal Penn, 'Harold and Kumar' actor and former Obama staffer, is joining as special correspondent. Covering midterm elex," summarizes Alex Weprin at Capital New York.

Specifically, Penn will contribute to a new primetime show that sounds almost like a film: Midterm Mayhem: The Ultimate Political Smackdown.

"Midterm Madness on @ThisIsFusion - featuring @kalpenn. Coming next week," promises ABC News political director Rick Klein.
