NYT Mag beefs up with food writer

While the New York Times may have just eliminated 100 jobs at its newsroom, its magazine is actually adding journalists as it prepares for a relaunch. The latest hire? Author and Vogue contributor Tamar Adler, who joins as a contributing writer for a food column at New York Times Magazine. Adler will also retain her role at Vogue.

"Very happy to announce that @tamareadler will begin alternating @NYTmag EAT columns with @SamSifton and @bittman," the magazine's EIC Jake Silverstein tweeted, adding the hashtag #yum.

Adler retweeted him, then followed up by admitting, "I don't really know how to tweet. The last was meant to express my joy @ starting to alternate colums at @NYTmag with @SamSifton & @bittman." She seems to have since gotten the hang of Twitter, though, as her next tweet was this: "My first @NYTmag column, on eating in solitude."

By George, we do believe she's got it! Congratulations, Tamar; we look forward to what you cook up.
