AP taps weekend global news manager

The Associated Press has just named Evan Berland global news manager for weekends. A 14-year AP veteran who most recently served as East Region Deputy Editor, in his new role Berland will oversee all of the organization's weekend operations from its New York hub. That means hustling before the weekend to plan weekend coverage, then leading it on Saturdays and Sundays.

"Big congrats to @EvanBerland_AP! As a consumer of news I, along with millions more, will benefit from this wise move!" journalist Matt Moore heralded the move, adding, "And if you've got even a passing interest in news and current events, you'd do well to be following @EvanBerland_AP on the Twitter."

At WSJ, Josh Dawsey simply tweeted, "@EvanBerland_AP is the man." We're inclined to agree.

Don’t forget - if you change your job in journalism or move to a different news organization, be sure to email Kirsten (kirsten [at] sawhorsemedia [dot] com) so we can reflect your new title. News job changes only, please! Thanks!
