Ebony crowns King entertainment editor

Ebony just anointed Aliya King as its new entertainment editor. Most recently a senior content producer for Vibe and vibe.com, King is a prolific writer and author of five books who has worked for The SourceUpscale and Giant with bylines in Ms, Us Weekly, Seventeen, Essence and numerous others.

In a Facebook announcement that also doubles as a ‪#‎ThrowbackThursday‬ post, King shares a story from her childhood to explain what Ebony's coverage has meant to her. "Effective today, I’m the Entertainment Editor at Ebony, charged with finding the stories that need to be told, the stories that sometimes don’t appear anywhere else," she writes. "If you know an eight year old who has some random music story they need to be told, tell them to hit me up at aking@ebony.com."

Editor in chief Mitzi Miller greets her with a tweet and a link: "Welcome to the @EBONYMag team @aliyasking!! #itsofficial #yay."
