AP gets a new Jerusalem bureau chief

The Associated Press just named veteran Middle East correspondent Josef Federman its bureau chief for Israel and the Palestinian territories. Most recently news editor for that region, Federman is credited with leading the AP's coverage of everything from the 2007 Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip to Israel's clashes in Lebanon and beyond.

"Big congrats to my esteemed colleague: AP names @JosefFederman as Jerusalem bureau chief," tweeted Middle East Regional Editor Dan Perry.

"Psyched!" is the word Federman tweeted to describe his feelings about the move, later replying to felicitations, "Thanks for the kind words. Very excited to take up the new post."

"Mubarak! Mazel tov!" Jonathan M. Katz chimes in, covering all bases.
