The AP welcomes two more into the fold

The Associated Press just added to two more to its flock:  experienced researcher Susan Beachy takes the reins at the AP's news research team as veteran Bay Area reporter Kristin J. Bender joins its San Francisco unit.

Coming to the AP from The New York Times, Beachy will be lead teams based both in New York and Washington, overseeing AP's editorial research capabilities globally.

"Happy to annouce @susancb to advance @AP's news research in the age of data, mobile and social media," tweeted Paul Cheung, Director, Interactive and Digital News Production.

"Thrilled to welcome Susan Beachy (@susancb) to her new role leading AP's editorial research," echoed data journalism team editor Troy Thibodeaux.

"Thanks for the welcome. Can't wait to join the @ap team," Beachy responded to both.

Meanwhile, Bender is currently with the Bay Area News Group--including the Oakland Tribune, San Jose Mercury News, and Contra Costa Times--where she is wrapping up as a breaking news reporter.

"Just heard the news, welcome!" photojournalist Ben Margot reached out to greet her.

"Thank you, Ben," Bender replied. "Glad I'll be working with you!"

Don’t forget - if you change your job in journalism or move to a different news organization, be sure to email Kirsten (kirsten [at] sawhorsemedia [dot] com) so we can reflect your new title. News job changes only, please! Thanks!
