Journalist returns to Florida Times-Union

The Florida Times-Union welcomes back Tia Mitchell as its Tallahassee bureau chief. Currently wrapping up as a Statehouse reporter for The Tampa Bay Times, in her next role Mitchell will assist in rebuilding the Times-Union's capitol coverage. When she was last at the paper, she was a reporter on the education, police and public safety beats.

"I guess I should say something. Yes, guys, the news is true and it's very bittersweet," Mitchell began on Twitter, then continued, "I am leaving the @TB_Times. *sad face emoji* But so excited to be the new Tallahassee Bureau Chief of @jaxdotcom *confetti emoji* ... But seriously, I'm going to miss the @TB_Times & I have learned so much here. I have much love for all my peeps and am so grateful."

"Times/Herald Bureau is going to miss @TBTia for her stories, charm and determination. Our loss is Times-Union's gain," colleague Michael Van Sickler tweets.

Meanwhile, at the Times-Union, Mary Kelli Parka tweets,"Welcome home, @TBTia, the Times-Union's new statehouse bureau chief. We've missed you!"
