NYT names deputy business editor

The New York Times has offered a new hat to Peter Lattman: that of deputy business editor. Currently a media editor, Lattman will continue to direct the Times' media coverage but will now also contribute to the paper's "broader business report."

"It's official: @nytimes media desk has been absorbed into Biz Day @peterlattman is new Biz Day deputy," colleague Christine Haughney announces.

"NYT's @peterlattman named deputy biz editor; as media and business teams merge/ 'crosspollinate,'" explains Women's Wear Daily media editor Alexandra Steigrad.

Back at the Times, Michael de la Merced described Lattman as "media editor and now also the most schmatta-savvy deputy business editor around," as James Cobb joked, "Congrats to @peterlattman, who has been named deputy business editor of @nytimes despite his ever-present smile."
