Grantland's Yoshida to The Verge

Emily Yoshida will bid adieu this Halloween Friday to Bill Simmons' sports and pop culture blog Grantland, as she prepares to move across the country to join The Verge. Currently based in Los Angeles as Grantland's culture editor, in her next role Yoshida is charged with expanding The Verge's film, TV, and music coverage while living in New York.

"It is true! I am going to join the @verge as their entertainment editor! See, I told you it was still the Internet!!" Yoshida tweets, referring to earlier hints that changes were in store. She later adds, "I am overwhelmed by all the lovely words and congrats. So stoked for NYC/that @Verge life/eating cupcakes in @rembert's bathtub."

Editor-in-chief Nilay Patel celebrates via Twitter: "Big Verge news: the immensely talented @emilyyoshida is joining us as our new entertainment editor!"

But at Grantland, Molly Lambert laments/quotes Taylor Swift, "we were both young when I first saw u @emilyyoshida."

Meanwhile, Vox's Matthew Yglesias announces, "Let the @EmilyYoshida Era begin."
