Ebola/conflict reporter named AP's bureau chief for West Africa

The Associated Press taps Krista Larson for West Africa bureau chief. Larson, who has covered Ebola as well as the Central African Republic conflict for the AP, has worked in Africa since 2008. She joined first as a supervisory editor on the Africa regional desk in Johannesburg and then as a correspondent based in Senegal.

Instantaneously, this news was followed by universal praise.

"Good news, world: the brilliant, delightful @klarsonafrica is officially taking over AP's West Africa bureau," announces ICWA's Robbie Corey-Boulet in Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia.

"Congrats to @klarsonafrica, AP's new West Africa bureau chief, heading news for 22 countries. Well deserved amid Ebola coverage, #CARcrisis," concludes TIME's Andrew Katz.
