Journalism job moves for Monday

Some highlights for today's media moves:

  • Melvin Backman quietly joined Quartz recently as a market and finance reporter. Read our complete write-up here.
  • Brooke Bower is named MSNBC's senior political editor, now that José Díaz-Balart has taken over hosting an expanded The Daily Rundown. Read all about it here.

Meanwhile, other important news in the industry:

  • Ayman Mohyeldin joins MSNBC as a fill-in anchor. Mohyeldin will retain his previous role with NBC News as a foreign correspondent.
  • Jason Kravarik is now a CNN producer based at its Los Angeles bureau. Kravarik was most recently assistant news director for KOIN in Portland, Ore.
