AP editor to lead UGC startup's UK team

Nov 25, 2014

Fergus Bell just departed the Associated Press for the London team of SAM, the "Canadian-based curation platform billed as a 'CMS for tweets'." Previously the social media and UGC editor for the AP's international desk, Bell will lead the UK group as "Head of Newsroom Partnerships & Innovation," teaching journalists how to better use technology to cover breaking news while verifying user-generated content.

"Really excited to be joining @SAM_Desk as Head of Newsroom Partnerships and Innovation!" he tweeted.

"Congrats! Exciting news! Will you continue your UGC ethics work in your new position?" asks CNN's Katie Hawkins-Gaar.

Bell replies, "Yes I will definitely be continuing my UGC ethics work. Will be updating on that very soon."
