Micklethwait replaces Winkler

Bloomberg News longtime editor-in-chief Matt Winkler is stepping down. For the past 24 years, Winkler has stood at the Bloomberg helm, but he isn't saying goodbye for good; Winkler's next role will be that of “editor-in-chief emeritus.” Meanwhile, The Economist is losing its longtime editor John Micklethwait to the cause; Micklewait will be Bloomberg's next EIC.

"Congratulations to my friend and colleague John Micklethwait," Winkler tweets. "Excited to work with him and start a new chapter @Bloomberg."

"On the subject of @Matthew_Winkler I quote the late Mark Pittman: 'Someday we'll tell our grandchildren that we worked for Matt," Bob Ivry shares.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg CEO Justin B. Smith tweets, "Thrilled to be working with @RJohnMickle again. He's world class journalist and editor. Looking forward to doing great things together!"
