Journalism job moves for Wednesday

Today in top media moves:

  • Wall Street Journal's Shelly Banjo is departing for Quartz, where she will be a finance reporter starting Jan. 12. Read all about it here.
  • New York Daily News is poaching Politico's Gregg Birnbaum, who joins on Jan. 5 as managing editor and head of political content. Check out more here.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the industry:

  • Mary Ann Georgantopoulos boards BuzzFeed as a news reporter. Georgantopoulos was previously a freelance reporter for Media Planet.
  • Dan Berman joins National Journal as assistant managing editor. Berman is currently Politico's White House editor.
  • Ben Pershing will soon be an editor for the National Journal Daily. Pershing is finishing up as the Washington editor at the National Journal.
