Abrams passes Nightline torch to Pitts

At ABC NewsByron Pitts is named Nightline co-anchor as Dan Abrams steps down to return to his former role as the network's chief legal analyst. 

"What a day! Named co anchor @Nightline then Interviewed the great @BarbaraJWalters My Mom smiling in heaven," Pitts shared on Twitter.

"Congrats to my man @byronpitts@ABC has tapped him to replace @DanAbrams on#Nightline. Way to go @bensherwood!" cheered Roland Martin with NewsOne Now.

Meanwhile, Abrams tweeted, "Just finishing up anchoring my last @Nightline!" adding the hashtags #Bittersweet and #AmazingTeam. He also congratulated his successor: "So proud to have been part of @nightline team and thrilled for @byronpitts. Oh and sorry to @Mediaite."
