NYT's Lovell joins This American Life

Joel Lovell departs The New York Times to join WBEZ's This American Life as an editor as well as The Atavist as part-time story editor. Plus, rumor has it Lovell is jumping on-board with addictive podcast Serial's second season. Lovell previously served as special projects editor for the Times as well as deputy editor of The New York Times Magazine.

At The Atavist, Evan Ratliff heralds it, "superstar editor @lovelljoel is joining @theatavist: http://atav.st/1DQIB3c  (as well as @serial + @ThisAmerLife)."

Amusingly, Ratliff mistakenly tagged the wrong Joel Lovell on Twitter the first time, which inspired this exchange:

"Wait, hang on, it's come to my attention that I've called out the incorrect Joel Lovell, tho I'm sure they are both wonderful. Trying again," he tweets, adding, "May have to quit twitter. Or work with every Joel Lovell out there. This is why I need an editor."

Silvia Killingsworth with The New Yorker teases, "van how hard is it there's only one joel lovell" then adds, "also mazel tov everyone."

Lovell responds, "that's so nice of you, Silvia. Very excited to work with these guys!"

Max Linsky of Longform jokes, "don’t get too excited she says that to all the Joel Lovells."

Killingsworth quips, "i lovell 'em all."
