Vox names inaugural politics editor

Vox is welcoming on-board its very first political editor: Politico deputy managing editor Laura McGann joins on Jan. 5. In an interview, McGann indicated that she will focus Vox's political coverage on policy and context, rather than simply regurgitating "the latest stump speech."

"Can't wait!" she shares on Twitter.

Reporting on the big news, Huffington Post's Michael Calderone further fills in the blanks, "How Vox hopes to make its 2016 coverage distinct."

"Inspired hire," Politico's Dan Berman calls it, while at Vox, executive editor Matthew Yglesias predicts, "2015 will be amazing."

Vox's Dara Lind takes it even one step further: "Omg omg you guys I'm so freaking excited to work with @lkmcgann in 2015."
