BuzzFeed apps adds Poynter fellow

Poynter's socially savvy Sam Kirkland is off to join the BuzzFeed News app team. Until recently Poynter's digital media fellow, Kirkland's focus on mobile and social media trends should make him a perfect fit with his new newsroom.

"An important @BuzzFeedNews App hiring update: delighted to welcome @samkirkla to the team," announces News app editor Stacy-Marie Ishmael.

"Airplane mode is now off and oh hi Twitter. So excited to join @noahchestnut and @s_m_i's awesome @BuzzFeedNews app team," Kirkland shares on Twitter.

"They are so lucky to have you," responds Poynter colleague Kristen Hare.

Brandon Wall with the Chicago Sun-Times chimes in, "you are the original apptrepreneur after all. Very excited to see what comes out of that shop."
