In sorrow and sports, we remember Stuart Scott
"Stuart Scott's monumental legacy, from #Booyah to cooler than the other side of the pillow," reflects Don Van Natta at ESPN. Today we join the ESPN team in remembering Scott's long career as well as his talent, his work ethic and his dedication to his two daughters (219,000+ shares). "A tribute to Stuart Scott, narrated by his friend @RobinRoberts. Nothing to add," reacts MSNBC's Jamil Smith. In a corresponding post from ESPN, we learn that Scott "didn't just push the envelope ... He bulldozed the envelope" (60,800+ shares). Michael Barkann with Comcast SportsNet laments, "Never knew you. Never met you. Wish I had."
President Obama put out a statement: "Over the years, he entertained us, and in the end, he inspired us -- with courage and love. Michelle and I offer our thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and colleagues." Rich Eisen also looks back on his longtime co-anchor. "I grew up with Rich Eisen & Stuart Scott anchoring @Sportscenter for me as an awkward teen, so this made me cry," confesses Nature's Noah Gray. Eisen also filled a whole highlight package with Stuart Scott catchphrases. Sports Illustrated offered a look into the emotional ride taken by ESPN staff who worked on the package they hoped would never air. For the New York Times, Richard Sandomir wrote Scott's obituary.
