Washington Post names religion reporter

Sarah Pulliam Bailey is The Washington Post's newest religion reporter, beginning in early February. Bailey is currently wrapping up as a national correspondent for Religion News Service in New York.

"Some personal news: I will be starting a religion reporter position at the @washingtonpost, working w @mboorstein," she tweets via Facebook. "I’ve been thankful to have such excellent editors and colleagues at Religion News Service. We will miss NYC quite a bit, but feel free to send tips and suggestions for life in DC. "

At WaPo, religion reporter Michelle Boorstein responds, "YES the @washingtonpost expanding religion coverage in a highly cool way with the hire of respected @spulliam, formerly @CTmagazine @RNS."

"Great hire. Shows a commitment to the beat," concludes Michael Luo with the New York Times.
